In My Haven: August 2022

This August in my haven I'm thinking about being present in the moment. With school starting back up later this month, I started to feel my thoughts turning to "back to school”. While there is always a measure of excitement associated with the start of a new school year, I was starting to stress out about things that are happening two or three or four weeks from now and I realized it was taking away my enjoyment from the last few weeks of summer break. So instead, I am trying to take each final day of summer break one at a time and allowing myself to enjoy our less structured summer schedule without worrying about the school year yet. (Easier said than done, for me). In this spirit, I am keeping this journal very brief and only suggesting that you take some time this month to do something that brings you relaxation and enjoyment before summer starts winding down. That's certainly what I am hoping to do!

  • My Thoughts: It's good to give yourself a break from thinking about what needs to be done next so that you can enjoy what's happening right now.

  • In the Haven Handmade Shop: All kinds of good stuff! Check it out!

  • Make it Yourself: Just let yourself be creative.

  • In the Kitchen: Something tasty that makes use of the season's bounty.

  • To Read: Anything that interests you.

Mini travel drawing sets (featured here with a variety of adorable animal appliqués), Chicago flag inspired items such as bottle totes, and a solar system appliqué design are new to the Haven Handmade shop.

Thank you all for sharing this journey with me and letting me share my thoughts and my designs with you. Have a great month!

From my haven to yours,

Beth
