In My Haven: June 2
This week in my haven I have, once again, been working on a ton of different projects. Here are the highlights:
prepping for the ice dyeing event for Chicago Sews Meetup
cutting and sewing items for my first craft market of the summer, Jarvis Square Market
finishing a special set of items that will be on display at H&H Americas this month
sewing an adorable Huggable for a little one who’s about to turn one
planning out two other custom orders
continuing to plan for my Mini Banner making working at the Chicago Public Library
It's been a little stressful to juggle so many projects (and stay on top of my teaching responsibilities at the same time), but I'm also incredibly grateful to have so many people interested in what I sew. I also want to mention the reason for skipping writing a journal last week.
Last Thursday I attended the Engaging Women Conference at my alma mater, Saint Mary's College, with my mom. Once I was back from that, I then had to turn around and pack for a long weekend away at my parents’ cottage on Lake Wawasee. Both of these events were rejuvenating in their own ways and took me to places that I consider havens. At the conference, it was inspiring to hear so many accomplished women speak about their personal and professional journeys, and it was a good reminder that I am just getting started writing the story of Haven Handmade. At the lake with my family, we ate a lot of delicious food, played on the water, took family portraits, and relished the quality time together. It was so very relaxing.

More From My Haven
Since life isn't all business, here’s a little more about what’s happening in my haven this week.
What I'm Cooking: For Memorial Day weekend, I made a mixed berry crisp and we ate it with vanilla ice cream on top. Summer perfection (even when it’s made with frozen berries)!
What I'm Reading: I started reading The Little Paris Bookshop (Nina George), and it’s been a nice, easy read so far. It’s a good one for reading while relaxing by a lake!
What Joanna is Reading: Joanna and I finished reading The Magician's Elephant (Kate DiCamillo) and are planning to watch the movie tonight!
What’s Making Me Happy: Thinking back on the inspiring women who spoke at the Engaging Women Conference last week.
What's happening in your haven this week?
Warmly,
Beth
