In My Haven: April 21
This week in my haven I have been keeping my sewing momentum up with new orders and projects to complete. I have quite a few different projects in progress right now. They include a custom sign that says “Be kind", plans for an upcoming workshop at Einnim candle bar in Oak Park, and some knitting needle cases for My Two Ladies. The Chicago Sews Meetup group that I started helping with also has an event on Saturday, so I have been getting some things ready for that too. It feels so good to have lots of interesting and exciting projects going on in my sewing room! It is such a contrast to how I feel during the slower weeks and months. It can be incredibly discouraging to go a few weeks without many orders. Even though I've been through this cycle of ups and downs many times in the past two and a half years, I'm not sure I will ever get used to it. I guess I just need to enjoy the highs as much as I can, and practice patience during the lows. Easier said than done!

More From My Haven
Since life isn't all business, here’s a little more about what’s happening in my haven this week.
What I'm Cooking: The weather has been a rollercoaster this week, but I'm definitely more in the mood for lighter dishes like salads. We almost always make our salad dressing, and this Sunshine Salad dressing is one of my favorites.
What I'm Reading: I have read more of The Daughters (Adrienne Celt), but I'm not sure what to think of it yet. I'm not totally sure where the story is going yet.
What Joanna is Reading: Joanna and I are continuing to read The Last Mapmaker (Christina Soontornvat) together, but she has been reading so many other books on her own. In school she read The Wild Robot (Peter Brown) and loved it so much that she had to read the sequel right away!
What’s Making Me Happy: One thing that made me so happy this week was watching Joanna and her friends paint toucans together at her birthday party. Seeing their creativity was a joy!
What's happening in your haven this week?
Warmly,
Beth
