In My Haven: March 3
This week in my haven I didn't sew a thing. But reconstruction wrapped up and I started setting up my sewing room again! I wish I could wave a magic wand and have everything perfectly organized so I can just get in there and sew, but since I know that's not going to happen, I'm trying to be patient and enjoy the process. I want to take the time necessary to get everything organized and set up nicely. Since I'm getting close to having my sewing room back, I've spent quite a bit of time thinking about what's going to be on Haven Handmade’s calendar for spring and summer. I've applied to be the maker-in-residence for Chicago Public Libraries and to be a vendor at Renegade Craft Fair. Both of these are opportunities that feel like they would be a big step forward, and I've got all my fingers and toes crossed. I've also been getting more involved with Chicago Sews Meetup, a local group for sewing enthusiasts, and I'm excited to share some appliqué techniques with them later this month. As you can probably tell, even when I can't sew, I still think a lot about sewing!

With Easter just over a month away, it's time to start thinking about baskets! One of the great things about fabric baskets are how easy they are to store once the holiday is over. They can be folded flat and put away with no worries about ruining the basket. The next time you get your basket out, just give it a little pressing with your iron and it will be as good as new. Below are a few appliqué designs that I think would make darling Easter baskets.

As always, I'm happy to personalize any design or even make a custom design if you have something special in mind!
More From My Haven
Since life isn't all business, here’s a little more about what’s happening in my haven this week.
What I'm Cooking: Chicken noodle soup from scratch. No additional description needed!
What I'm Reading: I'm still reading Olga Dies Dreaming (Xóchitl González) and I finally feel like I'm gaining some momentum.
What Joanna is Reading: We are continuing to read A Tale of Magic (Chris Colfer). Sorry not to have anything new to report.
What's happening in your haven this week?
Warmly,
Beth
