This Week in My Haven: No. 10
This week in my haven has been full of reminders about all the things I am most grateful for. I hope your week has also given you moments of reflection on the positive aspects of your life. I’m going to keep things short this week because I really want to get back to relaxing and doing my own holiday shopping!
Shop announcements:
You have just a few days left to win an apron from my shop for yourself and for a friend by commenting on any of my Instagram posts in the month of November and tagging a friend. The winner will be chosen on December 1st!
I am having a little holiday sale! Use the code HOLIDAYS2020 to get $5 off your order of $50 or more.
What I’m thinking about: Giving myself permission to relax! It can be hard to stop thinking about my little business or to spend a day putting down my to-do list, especially since the holiday shopping season can be a really important time for small businesses. However, allowing myself to lounge around a bit more than usual and work on personal sewing projects instead of items for the shop has been nice.
What I’m making: I have finally gotten to work on matching pajama pants for Peter, Joanna, and I. I decided to use Simplicity 8268 for Peter and my pants. I sized up since the pattern is meant for knits and I’m using flannel. The fit adjustment worked, but I’m not really a fan of the pocket construction. It was awkward to sew and I just don’t really like the shape of them. For Joanna’s pair, I am using the Sleepover Pajamas pattern by Oliver + S. She has requested that I make the matching top too so that she can have a complete set. Once I get hers done, I will get some photos!
What I’m cooking: Peter was the cooking champion this Thanksgiving! The usual roles were reversed and he made dessert while I cooked the main dish. He chose this recipe for salted caramel apple cheesecake pie and it was a total showstopper! It sounds like it would be over-the-top sweet, but it wasn’t. It had a nice balance from the salty caramel and the tangy cheesecake layer.
What I’m reading: I have been reading The Ten Thousand Doors of January by Alix E. Harrow and it has been very enjoyable. It is about wanting to go elsewhere, which is a feeling that I think most of us can really relate to right now.
I hope your Thanksgiving filled you with gratitude and appreciation! I’m now off to decorate my home for Christmas, make crafts with Joanna, and eat tasty leftovers. Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
