This Week in My Haven: No. 11

This week in my haven has turned out different than I was expecting. I thought that we’d settle right back into our routine after our days off for Thanksgiving, and we did to a certain extent, but not entirely. This was due, in part, to my shop having its busiest week so far (yay!). I think all the holiday preparations and expectations have set in too, and are contributing to our moods. It just felt like there was a little more hustle and bustle around our home this week.

Shop announcements:

  • If you want your order to arrive in time for Christmas, I recommend ordering by Sunday, December 13th!

What I’m thinking about: Planning for the new year! I know we are all ready to be done with 2020 for many reasons, but I’m really excited about 2021 because of a new product that I’m going to be bringing to the Haven Handmade shop. I don’t want to give too much away, but I will give you two hints! One: It will let you be creative. Two: It is for kids and adults.

The best part of my week was making cookies with my little kitchen helper!

What I’m making: I thought I was going to have time to sew some Christmas gifts this week, but I have been busy with both regular orders and custom orders. I still have a couple more weeks to get my handmade gifts made though, so hopefully I won’t have to be up late to finish any gifts in time!

What I’m cooking: I had great luck in the kitchen this week! Here are a couple of the recipes that I made and enjoyed:

What I’m reading: I found this interview about what those on the autism spectrum experience very insightful. I am going to put Camilla Pang’s book, An Outsider’s Guide to Humans, on my to-read list after reading this article. Even though I learned about autism during my years as a teacher, I think I can learn more through this first-person perspective.

I have no idea what I’m going to do this weekend, but I can assure you I am ready for it nonetheless! Whether you have big plans or not this weekend, I hope you find some time for rest and relaxation in your haven.
