New Product: Travel Drawing Set

I’m not sure about you and your family, but mine has been on-the-go a lot more lately than we have been in previous months. It feels so good to get out and go places and see people regularly again. It also means we’ve been driving a lot more. I started to notice a pattern every time I asked Joanna to get packed up to go in the car and be out of the house for a few hours. She would always end up putting the same things in a tote bag: a mask, book, water bottle, stuffed animal, notebook, and drawing supplies.

It was never a problem to locate the masks, books, water bottle, or stuffed animals, but it was always difficult to find the notebook and drawing supplies. Joanna could be very particular about which notebook and drawing supplies she wanted to bring along. (Lined or unlined pages? Spiral bound or not? Large or small? Colored pencils or crayons? Pens or pencils?) I realized I could solve the problem for us by making her a travel drawing set.

The design for this set was inspired by two previous items I’d made. Last spring I made a roll up case for Joanna’s set of 50 colored pencils and it has been so handy for keeping them organized, but it’s a little too big to carry along and use in the car. More recently, I made a cover for the notebook I use to keep my to-do lists so that I always had a pen or pencil stored with it. The problem with this cover, however, was that the pen holder prevented the notebook from laying flat when it was open.

The travel drawing set improves on my old notebook cover and Joanna’s colored pencil roll up case.

This new travel set solves these problems. It is compact enough to bring along in the car or anywhere else you are traveling. The pencil holder also flips up so that the spiral notebook can open flat, making it easy to draw on both the left and right hand pages. Best of all, it ensures that you won’t have to search high and low for the right set of drawing supplies when it’s time to leave the house--everything you need will be all ready to bring along in this handy travel drawing set!

If your little artist draws at the same pace as Joanna, one notebook doesn’t last very long though. The good news is that, with this set, it’s simple to replace the used notebook with a brand new one. Likewise with the colored pencils. You can easily swap them out for crayons, markers, or pens, if that is your preference. I love this versatility because it means Joanna will keep using her set for a long time to come.

The notebook and pencils can be swapped out so the case can be reused time after time.

I’ve spent all this time talking about how convenient and useful this set is, but I haven’t even mentioned the part that will probably be your child’s favorite detail. The front cover can be personalized any way you like! When you order one, you can choose the name or text that I’ll stitch on the cover, along with what color and design you’d like it to be. Even though I’ve made this with children in mind, it can easily be made for teens or adults. I have one for myself, in fact. If you want one with a more sophisticated, grown-up style, just let me know and I’d be happy to make it for you.
