In My Haven: March 17

This week in my haven I finished organizing my newly reconstructed and decorated sewing room and I'm so excited to show it to you! It really feels like my own personal haven for sewing and creating beautiful items. My sewing pace really slowed down throughout the whole repair process, but now I'm more than ready to get back to sewing without constraints. I feel like I have a backlog of ideas that I'm itching to get stitched up, and I also can't wait to see what orders you all send my way. Having my sewing room organized and decorated makes me feel like I can fully focus on sewing again and it is so energizing. Please keep reading to see what the space looks like!

Haven Handmade Sewing Room Tour

Overhead View

This overhead shot gives you an idea of the room's layout, and it shows the showstopper of a rug that I picked. This floral rug was, in fact, the first new item I selected and it inspired the choice of paint color. Since the room is small and function is more important than style for the other furniture in the room, I wanted something that made the room feel bright and happy. This rug definitely does that for me!

Cutting and Storage Table

This cutting table with storage cubbies is the other big new piece I picked for my sewing room. It is a taller table that is perfect for standing to work at while I cut and press. There is plenty of space for laying out everything I need for a project and the storage below keeps tools and notions within easy reach.

Fabric Storage

I really needed a better way of organizing and storing fabric even before the pipe burst. The closet now holds a set a drawers that will keep all my fabric neatly sorted by color so it's a breeze to find exactly what I need. (This photo only shows one half of the closet, by the way.)

Cricut Stand

I use my Cricut Maker to cut all my appliqué patterns, so it needs to be out and ready to use all the time. I had it on this same metal shelf previously, but now it's in a different spot so that my workflow is a little easier. These carts are also handy for storing works in progress, patterns, shipping supplies and more.

Sewing Table

Thankfully, my sewing machine table and sewing machines weren’t damaged by the burst pipe. My table is made from the treadles of two antique sewing machines and a butcher block top, so it would take a lot to really do it damage! You can also see that I'm using one of the drawers from the antique sewing machine table as a storage shelf on the wall to the left of the table. I moved my sewing table so that my back doesn't face the doorway anymore. I don't want anyone sneaking up on me while I'm sewing!

I hope you enjoyed seeing my new sewing room set up! What's happening in your haven this week?

Warmly,

Beth
