In My Haven: May 5

This week in my haven I am not sure what to write about. Usually, it is pretty easy to decide what to write about based on the events of the week. However, this week I'm just feeling a little mentally depleted. Instead of sitting here staring at my screen until I think of an idea, which could take a very long time, I'm just going to accept that this is the natural rhythm of things. Some days even the routine tasks that normally come easy, feel hard. That's life. Even though I don’t have much to write about, I do have some good stuff to share in my journal. Keep reading to see what’s new in the Haven Handmade shop, as well as what I'm cooking, reading, and being inspired by!

Be Kind Rainbow Hoop

I made this “Be Kind” rainbow design as a custom order, but it was too good not to put it in the shop too! (I only have enough supplies to make five more though, so don’t wait.) The bright colors and positive message are just what a lot of us need right now, I think. The original buyer is planning to use this as a welcome sign on her front door, but I also think this would look great as part a child’s bedroom decor. I can see it being the perfect addition to a teacher’s classroom too. Where would you like to see this piece hung up?

More From My Haven

Since life isn't all business, here’s a little more about what’s happening in my haven this week.

  • What I'm Cooking: I made tilapia piccata for dinner this week and it was delicious! (I do swap the white wine for chicken broth though.)

  • What I'm Reading: I am loving reading Under the Whispering Door (T.J. Klune) right now!

  • What Joanna is Reading: Joanna and I are almost done reading The Last Mapmaker (Christina Soontornvat) together. There have been some exciting plots twists that make us want to keep reading each night!

  • What’s Making Me Happy: I went to the Gio Swaby: Fresh Up exhibit at the Art Institute of Chicago with the Chicago Sews Meetup group. Swaby is a textile artist that uses free motion appliqué techniques to create large scale portraits. It was so inspiring!

What's happening in your haven this week?

Warmly,

Beth
