In My Haven: October 21

This week in my haven I'm feeling caught in between the seasons. I want to have my winter designs ready by the first week of November, so I've been testing some of those. The beginning of the week also started out with some very wintry weather, which put me even more in a winter state of mind. However, the weather has been more mild and fall-like the past couple days, not to mention how all the trees seem to be showing off their best autumn foliage. Even though there’s a strong pull to start getting ready for the busyness of the winter holiday season, I am trying to slow down and appreciate the season we are actually in for the next couple weeks. How about you? Are you already feeling the need to start planning for Christmas or does that still seem far off for you?

Haven Handmade Shop Appliqué of the Week

Oak and Acorn

This is the perfect design for honoring the fall season! It looks great as a welcome banner to hang on your door or wall, as shown in the shop listing. I also love how the same elements can be rearranged for a different effect, like on the fabric basket pictured here. As the appliqué of the week, any products with this design are 10% off with the code AOTW.

On Sale

End of Market Season Sale

Last Saturday was my last market of the 2022 South Loop Farmers Market season. It was such a great experience to meet new people and be a vendor at this market all summer long. I have a few items left in my inventory that I have put on sale now that this market season has concluded. There are some really good deals that won't last long, including two of these adorable trick or treat totes.

More From My Haven

Since life isn't all business, here’s a little more about what’s happening in my haven this week.

  • What I'm cooking: Soup again! This time I made butternut squash soup using this recipe.

  • What I'm making: I made some progress on Joanna’s monarch butterfly costume, but it's not quite done yet.

  • What I'm reading: Same as last week— The Memory of Babel by Christelle Dabos (Book 3 of the Mirror Visitor series)

  • What I'm reading with Joanna: The Magician’s Nephew by C.S. Lewis (Book 1 or 6 in the Chronicle of Narcia series, depending on whether you read them chronologically or in publication order)

What's happening in your haven this week?

Warmly,

Beth
