This Week in Our Haven: No. 34
This week in our haven has been quite busy. I was letting my brain run through all the different things we did this week as I was trying to think of a better way to describe it, and I realized just how much we did. In my sewing room I was busy making extra inventory for an upcoming artisan market and getting some new products designed. In between that we had plenty going on around the house with school, piano lessons, meetings, and the usual busyness of life with a seven year old.
Shop announcements:
There are new Huggable animal designs on the way, as well as a few other goodies, but they aren’t listed in the shop yet. Stay tuned!
What we’re talking about: Last week we were talking about summer plans very tentatively, and this week it feels like we are really getting ready for summer. The weather has turned nicer and our thoughts have turned to planning summer activities and trips. Is there anything you’re really looking forward to doing this summer?
What we’re doing: We have been working on our garden and landscape more this week. We bought a few ferns and other plants from City Grange, a local landscaping and gardening shop. We are excited to keep beautifying our outdoor space, but we are realizing just how little we know about landscaping. We’ve grown a container garden for years, but this feels a lot different. If you have any tips about plants that grow well in shade, please do share because that seems to be our challenge to overcome!
What we’re cooking: Peter found strawberries on sale at the local produce market and suggested I make some freezer jam for us. My mom has been making strawberry freezer jam since I was a kid and Peter first tried it when we were visiting my parents at the beginning of our relationship. It became an instant favorite of his and now my mom will occasionally gift him a jar that she’s made. I guess he won’t need a gift for a while because I made about eight jars from a double batch of this recipe!
What we’re reading: Joanna has a couple magazine subscriptions and she just got a new issue of National Geographic Kids. It’s so fun for her to receive mail addressed to her and it’s also fun to read together. I always end up learning something interesting when I read it with her and I think it feeds her natural curiosity about the world.
I’m planning to spend as much time relaxing outside this weekend as I possibly can (once I finish working at my sewing machine). I hope the weather where you are allows you to get out and get some fresh air and sunshine this weekend too!
