This Week in Our Haven: No. 39
This week in my haven I have spent more time at my computer and less time at my sewing machine than usual as I try to make plans for the summer months. I want to make it as easy as possible to find Haven Handmade products, whether you are shopping locally or online, so I have been doing tons of outreach these last few days. A bit of news about that below...
Shop announcements:
All placemats, pillows, aprons, and tote bags are on sale in the Haven Handmade shop! Get them now before they are gone. I will likely not be restocking many of the same styles and colors.
You will soon be able to find Haven Handmade products at Made on Main Studio in Milford, Indiana! Milford is the small town adjacent to where I grew up, and is actually the town where I attended elementary school. I feel so honored to be one of the first businesses chosen to have their handmade products on Angie’s shelves.
Are you on Pinterest? Me too! I just made a Pinterest account and only have one board so far, but I am excited to make some useful and inspiring boards to share with you. Come follow along!
Small Business Spotlight: In this weekly feature I’m going to be sharing some of my personal recommendations of small businesses that I think are worth supporting. This is a completely unpaid promotion and represents my honest opinion. I just enjoy learning about other small businesses and hope you do too!
Oakley and Friends: I just bought the “Pink Flamingo” candle from Oakley and Friends last week at the Pilsen Vendor Market. It has such a summery scent without being overpowering. It is also in an adorably decorated jar that Joanna has claimed will be her to repurpose after the candle is used up. Caity, the owner and maker, is such a sweet person and has a great design aesthetic. I hope you check Oakley and Friends out!
Something to Make, Eat, or Do: Here is a quick three-ingredient recipe that Joanna and I made last week so that we’d be sure to have a cool, mostly healthy treat for the hot weather.
Three Ingredient Berries & Cream Popsicles
Ingredients:
½ cup whipping cream
1 cup frozen or fresh berries (any mix of berries works)
2 tablespoons honey
Instructions:
1. Blend all three ingredients in a blender or food processor until smooth and thick. (Adjust ingredient amounts to taste. Add a little more honey if you want them sweeter, a little more cream if you want them creamier, or a little more fruit if you want them fruitier.)
2. Pour into popsicle molds or small cups and put sticks in. Place in the freezer until completely frozen, about 6-12 hours depending on whether you started with fresh or frozen fruit.
3. Enjoy, preferably outside on a hot, sunny day.
Thought for the Week: “The true sign of intelligence is not knowledge, but imagination.” (-Albert Einstein)
A couple final things… First, I want to say, “Happy Father’s Day!” a bit early to all the dads, grandpas, and other father figures out there, but especially to Peter and my dad. Second, “This Week in My Haven” posts will probably be intermittent throughout the summer depending on our summer activities. Finally, I hope you have a wonderful weekend!
